Dear Reader,

Ben Jonson was my choice for my research paper because he led an interesting life. I wanted to
learn more about his life. He was not a well known author, but known just under William Shakespeare as one of major dramatists and poets of the seventeeth century.

Out of the list of all the authors, I chose him because he was not well known and I wanted to do
some research about his life since he worked along with Shakespeare. His youngest son died at the age of 7 from the plague and he wrote a very loving, sentimental poem as tribute to his son.

As I researched his name I was surprised at all the information I was able to get on him. I found the route he had taken on his journey to Scotland by foot. Also, I found pictures of his burial tomb in Westminster Abbey. There were a lot of interesting things I discovered about his life.

I used several resources for my research, from looking up dates and graves to looking up a calendar of his death in 1637 to see what day of the week he died so the obituary page would be correct. Google, Wikipedia and Bing was a great help to me.

Interesting to me was that he killed a man, was sent to prison twice and still continued to rise above his actions to write poetry and plays that were great. He was very combatitive they say, which probably helps me understand why he could kill someone.

My research helped me to understand who Ben Jonson really was. He was a great playwright despite the obstacles he faced in life. Many have never heard of him, so I hope as they read my pages they will understand that he was almost as good as William Shakespeare.
